such as raisins, currants, chopped dates, and candied fruit peel

such as almonds, walnuts, or pecans

Instructions
Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease and flour a loaf or Bundt pan.
Combine dried fruit and nuts in a bowl. Toss with 1/4 cup flour until evenly coated.
Cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time.
Sift remaining flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Gradually add to creamed mixture, alternating with milk.
Fold in fruit and nut mixture. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 60-70 minutes.
Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Allow the fruitcake to sit at room temperature for several days to develop flavors.
