Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
Combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth.
Add hot coffee, stir until smooth. Divide batter evenly between pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes.
Let cakes cool for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Heat heavy cream, pour over chocolate chips and butter. Let sit, then stir until smooth. Let cool to spreadable consistency.
Assemble cake with ganache frosting and optional fudgy sauce. Let set before serving.
